Bringing Milan Sophistication Outdoors: Tivoli Tech
Tivoli Tech is an exclusive collection of factory-made ceramic stoneware tile designed by acclaimed award-winning Milanese architect and designer Cristina Celestino in collaboration with legendary Italian tilemakers Fornace Brioni.
Celestino is known for the way she delves into the richness of Italy's historical legacy of art and design, teasing out stories, motifs, and themes, bringing them to life in multiple forms with freshness, a knowing humor, and a modern edge.
It’s only fitting that Tivoli Tech finds a home with OUTERclé, inspired as it is by the formal gardens of Italy.
Part of Celestino’s first collection with Fornace Brioni, it was created after observing the geometric forms of trees, topiaries and sculpted hedgerow.
Italian Classic Craftsmanship Meets Modern Technology
Made from through-body technical clays by one of Italy’s highest-quality family-run factories, Tivoli Tech is durable and low-maintenance, with the requisite resilience for the outdoor walls, floors — even pools, waterlines, fountains.
The ceramic material for Tivoli Tech was developed by fourth-generation tile makers Fornace Brioni. This outdoor formulation — the result of intensive research and development — resulted in an ultra-high quality through-body technical clay that is freeze-thaw rated, resilient to pool chemicals, and is UV and slip-resistant.
Fans of clé tile will know that award-winning Tivoli’s original instantiation came in the form of terracotta and glazed ceramic: materials appropriate for certain climates but nowhere freezing and thawing would be a possibility, a problem now solved by Tivoli Tech.
Meet Tivoli Tech
Tivoli Tech comes in the form of a bundle made up of three shapes (a pill, two listellos, and a cut-out rectangle) that come together to make up the pattern.
Consisting of 4 bundles, the collection comes in two “families”: land and sea.
The palettes are quintessential Celestino: muted brights come together with neutrals for surprising ease for so bold a design.
Land 1/Foglie: a blend of two mid-tone greens with a salmon pill
Land 2/Seppia: combining a deep warm brown, honeyed beige listellos, and a warm taupe pill
Sea 1/Cielo: bringing together a warm white pill with deep nautical blue listellos and a light turquoise cut-out rectangle
Sea 2/Sul Mare: mixing a light turquoise pill with deep nautical blue cut-out rectangle and warm white listellos
Designing with Tivoli Tech
Celestino’s sophisticated yet playful palettes blend into a space while adding a vital flourish. Ideal for the FORME and ‘58 Scapes and where minimalist-maximalist vibes are in order, use in a pool, at a waterline, or as an accent wall.
You could even pair the bundles, particularly in the case of Cielo and Sul Mare, which feature the same hues in different combinations for a subtle pattern play.
Playful, joyful, sophisticated, urbane, unexpected, an Italian summer aperitivo.
