In creating OUTERclé, our goal was to bring global flair — and the tools and palettes to make it possible — to the US.

It's high time that pools exhibit more creativity, more play, more exuberance.

And now, designers have a vast cornucopia of options for pool tile (stretching to over 750 different tile options and counting), whether it’s for use in the pool basin, for the waterline, or the pool deck.

And given the impact of pools as focal points, this opens up new options for outdoor design as a whole.

To be fair, in many situations (particularly in the case of public and publicly accessible pools) there are stringent requirements about materials and colors that can be used. But outside of those contexts, it’s the lack of options and inspiration that has inhibited pool design.

Diving into a new world of design

Our range of colors — from those classic blues to purples to yellow and orange, even silver and gold — opens up a new world of possibilities and design options.

Never ones to stop at color choices, we’ve also added pre-arranged pattern and mosaic options to assist with the installation of complex looks, as well as different textural options for both visual and functional versatility.

Each tile has been specifically designed or selected by OUTERclé as a pool tile from the outset — and not as indoor tile repurposed for a pool's significantly more stringent requirements. We’ve rigorously evaluated every collection, and every tile for all-important needs of the pool: UV resistance, slip resistance, chemical resistance, and freeze-thaw rating. OUTERclé’s pool and poolside collections are fit for the pool environment’s demanding requirements.  ▪

Begin the journey with Scapes and Areas

One place to start your exploration of new pool options is OUTERclé’s Scapes, outdoor (and pool) design inspired by the world’s great design traditions. Each Scapes offers a corresponding curation (down to color) of pool tile, and tile for the poolside.

Find a Scape that inspires, then, using filters, find the tile you’re looking for, whether it’s for pools or pool waterlines or exterior floors. (The filters will also give you a sense of the diversity and range of colors, sizes, shapes, and finishes.)

We've also collected tile suggestions based on specific applications.

For a wider view of the available options, explore swim and poolside under our "Areas" dropdown menu to see a range of tiles (pro tip: narrow down your 700-and-counting choices by using the filters for color, technical requirements, shape and more).  ▪

Explore the pool collections

To compare an array of similar tiles all at once, explore OUTERclé's current pool basin and waterline approved collections.

Lido: a collection of more than 350 tiles in varying shapes, textures, forms, and colors in the highest quality porcelain.

Colorwerks: colorful, modern, industrial, factory-made standards made from the highest-quality porcelain tile for monochrome ways, color-blocking, checkerboards, or your own work of art.

Both Lido and Colorwerks come in a variety of finishes, which will help determine their appropriate usages. Matte grip is designed for walking surfaces, while gloss and matte are better suited for pool walls, fountains, spillways, anything you probably ought not walk on.

1970s Glassworks: le Disque: glamorous, unexpected, and otherworldly glass tiles (inspired by David Bowie, no less), le Disque has its sights set on pools, waterlines and fountains.

Dzek + Formafantasma: ExCinere: a gloss palette of dramatic and moody greens and earth-tones with a sophisticated volcanic ash-glaze texture.

Consider any gloss options above for non-walking surfaces only due to their lack of slip resistance, but matte options have broader applications. Be sure to double check the guidelines for specific usages for each tile you’re considering, and remember that your design team and experienced installer are always the best resource for tile selection.  ▪

The poolside and beyond

When looking for materials for poolside, slip and chemical resistance are non-negotiable. Again, your design team and installer are the very best guides for your tile selection journey.

Lido and Colorwerks: both Lido and Colorwerks have tiles in a matte grip finish, bringing above mentioned color and creative options to pool decks as well.

Dolce Vita Terrazzo: museum-quality craftsmanship, elevated design. OUTERclé sought a high-design terrazzo capable of handling exterior applications. This long journey led to Italy, the original birthplace of terrazzo, where the finest tiles are solid terrazzo through and through, not merely a thin surface of texture. Freeze-thaw rated and UV resistant.

BrickWorks: subtle sophistication in elevated earthy hues, from the warm tan of Pampas Grass to deep-brown-veering-towards-black Scorched Earth. A more organic take you can dial it up or down. A quick note, in direct sun or warmer climes, brick can be hot to the touch. We highly recommend leaving a sample out onsite in the sun during the hottest part of the day to find your comfort level.▪
